Big changes are scheduled for 2006 as Anime Mid-Atlantic
returns for its sixth year of fun and games! The recently expanded
Greater Richmond Convention Center will host all of the events. This
means more space for almost every event. Individual event pages will
be posted as we gather more information for you.
Update: The
tentative event schedule and tentative
video schedule have been posted. Changes may still occur. You

the con.

This year AMA will host its first series of music concerts. All concerts will be held in one of the Greater Richmond Convention Center's large exhibition halls, so there will be plenty of seating and standing room for all. Anime and video game musician Piano Squall will take the stage on Friday at 6PM. Singer/song writer Mari Iijima (the voice of Macross' Lynn Minmei) will be performing on Friday at 9PM. An autograph session will follow her concert. To Mari fans: she will be leaving AMA on Saturday, so make sure you attend the convention on Friday. And concluding our concert series, singer/song writer Kristine Sa will take the stage on Saturday at 5:30PM.

All Artist Alley tables will be located
in the convention center's enormous lobby near the Cyber Cafe.
There will be plenty of space for artists to work. Attendees
will past through the Artist Alley on their way to and from
Main Events and the Vendors Room. Con goers will also be able
to look down onto the Artist Alley from the second level balconies,
hallways, and Cafe. Artists will be able to create, display,
and sell their works.

Our Main Events Room gets bigger in 2006.
There will be plenty of seating for everyone during Saturday
night's Cosplay. Con goers will perform and showcase their
costuming and showmanship talents on the grand stage. If you
are not quite ready for the bright lights of the Cosplay,
why not enter the Hall Costume Contest which occurs on Friday
and Saturday afternoons during the convention weekend.
Featured Guest Yunmao Ayakawa's panel is scheduled for Saturday at 3PM.

Learn more about various topics of interest to anime fandom,
come meet our featured guests, and much more. Prefer the hands-on
approach? Then attend one of our workshops including the ever-popular
cel painting and drawing workshops. We will post panel and workshop
names as we confirm them. Panels and workshops of interest to
various groups (i.e. like artists, cosplayers, video gamers,
etc.) will be highlighted throughout the site. As with Video
Programming, a final schedule will not be posted until a couple
of weeks before the convention.

 |
The Video Game Room gets a slightly larger
venue in 2006. More elbow room. As always it will be stocked
with the latest cutting edge video games and consoles plus
some old school favorites. The Video Game Tournament list is now online and is listed by day. Exact times will be announced soon.
|
|
Main Events and three Video Rooms will
again show a mix of classic and the latest anime available
in the U.S. We show subtitled and dubbed movies, OAVs, and
television shows. Dubbed anime is usually shown to highlight
the talents of voice actors who come to AMA as featured guests.
In 2006 we are looking to add a block or two of specialized
video programming. A full schedule will not be posted until
a couple of weeks before the convention. We are a family friendly
convention. Video ratings will be posted and printed for parents
of younger children.

a soon to be named charitable organization.
