So you have a costume, but for whatever reason, you aren't appearing in the Saturday Night Cosplay. If you want to have your costume judged, feel free to enter the Hall Costume Contest. Some things you will want to keep in mind:

Cosplay and Costuming
Panels
  • Advance Sewing Techniques Workshop
  • Cosplay Forum
  • Cosplay Q&A
  • Cosplay Presentation
  • Kawaii Wig
  • Kimono
  • Cosplay from Japan: Yunmao Ayakawa
  • Hall costumes are recommended for new fans, for costumes that have been done many times before as Cosplay costumes, and for those who suffer from stage fright. Please contact our Cosplay Staff at tikki@adelphia.net if you have any questions about the Hall Costume Contest. Due to the growth of last year's entries, we are also introducing skill divisions this year!!

*PLEASE NOTE: any costume worn as a hall costume prior to the Cosplay cannot be entered in the Cosplay Costume Contest.

    Hall Costume Rules

You may not enter the same costume in both the Hall costume contest and the Cosplay. Also, you may only enter one costume a day in the Hall contest. (Yes, this means you can enter two different costumes during the weekend).

    AMA 2006
    Hall Costume
    Contest Hours
    Friday
    7PM - 9PM

    Saturday
    1PM - 3PM
This is a Japanese Animation Convention, so please, only costumes from Anime and Japanese influenced Video Games (Final Fantasy, Onimusha, King of Fighters, DOA, etc) will be accepted. Please, no Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, etc. costumes. Likewise, no original characters (I.E. characters from fan fictions and the such not part of the canon from any actual anime.) The accuracy of these characters costumes are completely at the whim of the creator, so we, as the judging staff would have no fair way to judge them.

    Last Year's Winners
AMA 2005 Cosplay and Hall Costume Contest Results
Please bring reference material for your character. The judges have been around, but they haven't seen everything. Having a physical image of the original character would help us immensely.

We will be judging your costume on workmanship and presentability. Staying in character is not necessary.

Hall Costume judging will take place Friday evening TBA, and Saturday TBA. Please try to make it to the Panel room at those times. Also, judging will be first come first served, so get to the panel room early.

    Awards:
    • Best of Weekend
    • Best of Saturday
    • Best of Friday
    • Honorable Mention awards will be selected from each skill division (Youth, Novice, Experienced). Awards will be announced at the Masquerade Award Ceremonies, prior to the Saturday Night Cosplay awards.

Most of all, have fun, people!
