The Artist Alley for AMA 2006 is now
FULL If you want to be placed on the waiting list please email us.
Artist Alley is one of the hubs of activity
during the convention. Artists can create and display their works
at their table. Anime Mid-Atlantic and the Greater Richmond Convention
Center are NOT responsible for the loss of any works created, displayed
or brought to the Artist Alley. Works in the alley are wholly the
responsibility of the artists. The Artist Alley is not a cheaper Vendors'
Room. Works sold in the Artist Alley must be of your own commissioned
artwork.
Due to the move to the convention center and their rules, there will
be a small fee of $20 for reserving a table in the
Artist Alley. You can send in the $20 fee with your admission to the
convention. The Artist/Table
Registration Form should be filled out and sent to us along with
payment. When we receive the table fee, your table is officially reserved
in your name. If you have any questions or need confirmation that
your registration has been received, feel free to contact us at: programming@animemidatlantic.com.
Contact us via email at: programming@animemidatlantic.com
when you are ready to send in your table reservation so we know
to expect it.
The table fee is per table, not per artist. Only one artist per
table needs to send in the table registration fee. One or more artist
may sit at your table (within reason of course).
Tables are six feet in length.
Let us know via email if you need extra room for pipe-and-drape
or banner-type display stands around your table.
Studio Name and Website fields are optional on the Artist pre-reg form.
We encourage artists to reserve tables in advance because tables are
available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are generally unavailable
by spring of each year.
For the first time since AMA 3, all artists will be grouped together.
The Greater Richmond Convention Center's grand lobby will host the
Artist Alley. The Alley is an open-air space with a high ceiling.
Attendees will be able to look down onto the alley from second level
hallways and Food Court seating area. The Alley is centrally located
on the convention center's ground level next to the Cyber Cafe and
between the Vendors' Room, Artist Show and Video Game Room at one
end of the building and Main Events on the opposite end.
- The Greater Richmond Convention Center will allow artists to create and sell commissioned pieces of artwork limited to sketches, painting, comics, and other drawing based art pieces. This is not a cheaper vendors' room so other types of mercendise will not be allowed. Please contact us if you sell things other than commissioned artwork.
- The Artist Alley operational hours are posted above. The Alley will
close both nights of the convention around 1:30AM.
- As mentioned above, artists are only allowed to sell their own works.
This is not a cheaper Vendor Room.
- The convention center will have the Cafe open throughout the weekend
for attendees. The prices are reasonable and we will post them as
the con gets closer.
- Use common sense when it comes to showing mature artwork to 18+
con goers. Do not display mature artwork as childern and minors will be present in the hallways.
Seperate portfolios for descreet viewing of this art works best.
Floor Electricial Outlets
Update: we were unable
to reach an agreement with the GRCC about the electrical floor outlets
for artists in the Artist Alley. The GRCC will audit and charge artists
for power use. The price is $55.00 for the whole
weekend if you contact and pay in advanced. You need to contact the
convention center at least 7 days before the con to get this
price. After that, the cost of electricity will be $75.00.
If you are interested in purchasing power, go to the GRCC website
(www.richmondcenter.com) and pull down the utility services order
form and fill it out and send it in. The order form has the GRCC's
fax number and space for credit card information or artists can send
in a check.
Otherwise, we suggest that artists bring rechargeable laptops and
battery-powered devices.

Last year we included artwork from Artist Alley artists in the
convention's program book. It's another way for artists to get some
extra exposure. Artists in the Alley are encouraged to submit one
piece of artwork for inclusion in this year's book. If interested,
the artwork should be B&W and at least 300 dpi for printing.
The images should no more than 4" tall by 3" wide or,
if larger, should be able to be reduced in size to these dimensions.
The artwork should be a representation of your particular style.
Please do not send images with nudity or ultra-violent themes (feel
free to send us a sketch if you are unsure of its acceptance). Let
us know if you want your name or studio name included as a caption
for the image. If you prefer, you can include it in the artwork
itself.
Submissions are due by May 1, 2006. Images can be sent to the following
email address: zorprime@gmail.com.
